Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has played down the recent transfer rumour linking him to clubs around Europe, Newslegend.com.ngreports.
The former youth international who played in the Eagles’ two recent international friendlies against Mali and Luxembourg spoke toNewslegend.com.ng on Friday on the speculations making the rounds.
“The transfer window hasn’t even ended, in fact just started and people are talking about my possible move.
“For now, I’m still a player of S.S Lazio. You never can tell what will happen anyway.
“As for the Super Eagles, we need stability in the team. The recent change of coaches isn’t what we need.
“We want to qualify for the 2018 World Cup and improve our FIFA rankings which has not been very good in recent times. You can see we improved in that aspect (after Thursday’s release) and we want to prepare very well for the World Cup qualifiers. That is why the friendlies we played were good as we rebuild.
“Hopefully we’ll have a better team when the World Cup qualifiers start,” Onazi who walks down the aisle in an anticipated society wedding with girlfriend, Sandra Ogunsuyi on June 18 told Newslegend.com.ng.
Onazi took part in the friendly match between the Europe-based All Stars team comprising of mostly Super Eagles players and the Westerloo Academy, owned by former Eagles goalkeeper, Dosu Joseph.
Westerloo defeated the Eagles-dominated All Stars team 4-2 at the Agege Stadium, Lagos.
