Nigeria U-23s preparations for the football tournament of the Rio Olympics suffered a setback as they lost 1-0 to Mexico
U-23 in a friendly match played in the early hours of Sunday.
The Nigerian side only recently participated at the Suwon Invitational tournament in South Korea where they finished
third behind Denmark, South Korea while Honduras finished fourth.
The U-23 Eagles had defeated Brazil 1-0 in a friendly hosted by the South Americans who are desperately gunning for
their first title in the football event of the Olympics.
The Coach Samson Siasia led side are in Group B of the Rio 2016 men’s football, along with Sweden, Colombia and Japan.
Mexico, who are the Olympics men’s football champions are in Group C, along with Germany, Fiji and South Korea.
