Enugu Rangers reclaimed their place atop the Nigeria Professional Football League table with a 3-2 win against Akwa United at the Godswil Akpabio Stadium, Uyo on Saturday.

Rangers now have 46 points, three more than second-placed Wikki Tourists who are away against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday.

Akwa United trailed the Coal City side when Harrison Ibikun inadvertently scored an own goal in the third minute.
Akwa United fought back and grabbed an equaliser just before the end of the first half.

Rangers however regained the lead on 61 minutes through a wonderful strike by Chisom Egbuchulam.

Substitute Enete Chebem secured the victory for Imama Amamakapo’s team when he scored from a Godwin Aguda assist towards the end of the match.

In the other NPFL ¬†game on Saturday Abdulrahman Bashir continued his goal scoring streak as he scored his 10th goal of the season in Nasarawa’s 3-0 win at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi against Lobi Stars. It was the seventh consecutive game in which the striker has scored.
In Makurdi, Nasarawa United were in devastating form, inflicting a 3-0 defeat on Sunshine Stars to end the Owena Waves’ seven games unbeaten streak.

Nasawara United scored again in the 32nd minute courtesy of Bature Yaro who fired the ball past Ojo Olorunleke.
Four minutes later, Thomas Zenke added the third, tapping home the ball from close range.
