Nigerian youngster Kelechi Nwakali has joined Eerste Divisie r 9second tier Dutch football) MVV Maastrich on loan for the 2016/17 season where his club Arsenal hope he will get plenty of playing time, something less likely in a
rather crowded Arsenal Academy.
Maastricht boss Ron Elsen appears happy to have him as he wrote on the club’s twitter handle Wednesday evennig:
“Kelechi is a multifunctional attacking midfielder with scoring ability and a nose for the final pass. …[It] is now time for him that he develops through at senior level.
“This is possible by making more playing time in a competition and in competition [is] where it really matters.”
Meanwhile former Super Eagles striker and 2008 olympic medalist Victor Anichebe sent tongues wagging with his
transfer update over his next move on Wednesday evennig.
Following spells at Everton and West Brom, 28-year-old Anichebe is currently a free agent.
On Wednesday evening he posted a message on social media saying:
“On my way to the Emirates #TransferDeadlineDay.”
That naturally provoked a large social media reaction, as jokes flew about that Anichebe could be joining Arsenal.
Of course, Anichebe was talking about the Emirates in the Gulf, and not the Gunners stadium.
