Hosts Algeria held Nigeria’s Super Eagles to a 1-1 draw in their final Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier at the Stade Mohamed-Hamlaoui on Friday evening, reports.


Hapoel Be’er Sheva midfielder John Ogu handed the Super Eagles the lead with a 63rd minute pile driver but the Fenecs restored parity with ten minutes left on the clock via a penalty converted by Yacine Brahimi.

The draw means Nigeria ended the 2018 World Cup qualifiers unbeaten with four wins and two draws-with 14 points from six games.

Coach Gernot Rhor whose team were only held to a draw before Friday by Cameroon on September 4,  rang the changes in his side with captain John Mikel Obi who is expected to play against Argentina in the high profile friendly on Tuesday watching from the stands.
